Chennai has extended almost five fold ranging 1189 sqkm to 5904 sqkm. State government on Friday ordered to add 1221 villages in Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Chengalpet and Ranipet districts under the Cgennai Metrpolitan Area (CMA).
CMA will now stretch upto Chengalpet in the south and Ranipet districts in the west, The decision is to ensure growth plan and city development and its suburbs creating satellite towns, better integrated transport facility and quality life style.
as per TOI report, Chief ministers review meeting with officials from Housing and Urban Development Board, Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority and Greater Chennai Corporation has delivered the result.
Kancheepuram, chengalpet, Tiruvallur are future growth centres. The notification will pave way in making a brief master plan for Chennai, :we will also be rationalizing the staff strength and new planners, engineers will be provided to CMDA, Hitesh kumar S Makwana, Housing and Urban Development secretary said.
It will integrate the regional economy with Chennai/s economy and manage regional resources in a good manner. Thousands of water bodies can be conserved . An efficient transport will also be an outcome of this initiative, said Mr.Anshul Mishra, member secretary, CMDA.
Infrastructure funding will also become easier once it bought under CMA boundaries, "CMDA/s detailed master plan will also provide a development oriented growth" he said
